Diving Medicine

Dr Gary Morris has a BSc Honours in Diving Medicine from the University of Stellenbosch.

This is an internationally recognised degree, which qualifies him to:

  • Assess fitness to dive for all types of diving.
  • Give medical support to diving operations, both commercial and recreational.
  • Carry out the annual certification examinations on all classes of divers as required internationally. These medicals are done in accordance with the standards of the International Maritime Contractors Association (IMCA) and are recognised all over the world. He is also registered as a Diving Medical Officer with the Department of Labour, South Africa. Certificates are issued from the SAUHUMA website and are internationally recognised

In addition, Dr Morris is a member of the Southern African Underwater & Hyperbaric Medical Association (SAUHMA), and is one of the on-call doctors for the hotline of the Divers Alert Network Southern Africa (DANSA).
